Snow Buddy

When John got home on Saturday night, he WASN'T alone. He brought a friend for Nicholas . . .

. . . a SNOW BUDDY!

But, alas, boys will be boys! I had just taken the photo above when Daddy decided to show Nicholas what fun it was to hurl a SNOWBALL at Mommy.

But, it's spring!

I don't know how else to say it . . .

Wacky Wacky Weather!!!

How else do you describe waking up to a dusting of snow on the ground and a day full of rain/snow, hail showers, and snow?

Of course, there were also the occasional "sun breaks" during each of those, which happened many many times over the course of the day.

The HAIL . . .

and the SNOW!!!

Toddler Rock

LIVE!
from
Tuesday's
playgroup

it's ...

TODDLER
ROCK!

If you've ever wondered what happens at a toddler playgroup, here's your answer. They spontaneously start up their own rock band. While I wasn't able to capture the whole concert, I was able to get the encore. Here's a short video clip for you to enjoy!

Be nice to me . . .

I gave blood today!

Why is this so blog-worthy?

Because I finally passed and was cleared today to donate again!!! Granted, I was RIGHT on the cut off for not being eligible. But, I am just so excited that I was able to donate that I had to make a note.

So, if you haven't donated recently, please go find a blood drive
(or donation center) and help save a life today!

Happy Easter!

While I was making breakfast, I looked out the kitchen window and . . . I had a "BUNNY" in the backyard . . . IF you can call
a 6-foot pink rabbit a "bunny." (LOL)

Both grandparents took VERY good care of their grandson.

My mom made sure that John & I didn't get forgotten. There was also a traditional "See's" surprise for both of us.

However, Lil' Quack (as Nicholas named the duck) is ALL his.

And, as if there wasn't enough SUGAR floating around, Nicholas and I made all the relatives a Rice Krispies Easter Egg. I made the eggs and laid out the candies in order. Then, Nicholas placed the candies on the eggs.

After Easter breakfast, all the cousins got ready for the egg hunt. Unfortunately, the weather was a "little" WET, so the excitement wasn't at its usual levels. However, the kids made the best of it
and quickly found all 90 eggs that the "BUNNY" had left.

Later in the evening, I set up an "indoor egg hunt" for Nicholas, since he LOVED hunting for the eggs but got out run a few times this morning. I made sure he knew that "Mommy" (not the bunny) hid these eggs. I filled them with a few coins, a few treats, and a small toy or two. As you can tell, he REALLY LIKED this idea. But, if you saw how fast he found the eggs . . . you would have thought I was guiding him telepathically. At least the LAST egg stumped him for a little bit.

The LAST egg!

The Older "Princess"

Today, Nicholas went to his friend Katie's 4th birthday party. It was a princess theme, but Nicholas held his own as a well-behaved "prince." The girls all made princess wands and the boys made crowns. The funniest part for me was when it was time for the kids to eat cake.

Nicholas has never been a cake eater, and only on occasion eats the frosting. Today, was one of those days. While all the kids devoured their slices of cake, Nicholas reached across the kitchen counter to eat the carrots and cherry tomatoes from a vegetable tray.

An Old Irish Blessing

May love and laughter light your days,

and warm your heart and home.

May good and faithful friends be yours,
    wherever you may roam.

May peace and plenty bless your world
    with joy that long endures.

May all life's passing seasons
bring the best to you and yours!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Another Year Older

This evening we celebrated our niece Jennifer's 7th birthday. It seems like just yesterday she was only the same age as Nicholas. Now, she helps look after him whenever the family gets together. Nicholas adores her. However, tonight, his eyes were more on her cake than her!

Happy Birthday Jenn!!!
Now, make a wish . . .

OOPS . . . not fast enough!!!

The "Frosting Snatcher" got in a little taste just before the cake was pulled quickly away.

Movie Day

HEADLINE

Nicholas
Watches
First
Theater
Movie

Nicholas saw his first movie in a theater -- "Horton Hears A Who." John said it was a pretty good movie and Nicholas did very well. He sat for most of the movie, stood for only a short time, and even rested his head on his cousin Jennifer's shoulder for comfort (apparently, he got a little scared at one point ). Nicholas even ate popcorn during the movie.

Now . . . Nicholas keeps asking us if he can go back to the movie theater to watch another movie and eat popcorn!

Meanwhile, back at the ranch (aka "home") . . .

I already had a full day planned for cleaning up the front porch (we had collected a lot of dead bugs, cobwebs, nests, etc.) and potting the plants I purchased the day before. I knew if I didn't finish it all today, the plants would have to wait until next weekend. So, I skipped the movie . . . but, doesn't the front doorway look great???

Nick-isms

Life is much easier now that Nick can talk. I can ask him what he needs or wants. He can tell me what he sees or what he wants to play. But, what I enjoy MOST are his interpretations of words . . . these are some of my favorites:

Sneeze - ex

Water Mountain

Bozer

Space Mat

Wed Morning Blah's

Oh my . . . I could tell this was going
to be a verrrrrry long day.

HOW did I know this???

Nick didn't go to bed until 10:00pm. He was still up at 10:45pm, when I went downstairs. I fell asleep on the couch and woke up at 2:15am . Nick was awake AGAIN! I covered him up and headed to bed. It took me a while to get to sleep. Then John's alarm went off at 5:30am and I heard Nick talking. We finally got up at 6:30am. We're NEVER up that early. I think both of us got 3 or 4 hours of sleep -- if that much.

I thought Nick was worried about missing his daddy (John left for CA for a few days) or had trouble breathing last night (a bit of the sniffles, which I assumed was allergies from all the tree pollens).

But, I was wrong! After Nick got up from nap around 5:00pm, he had a fever and was completely congested/runny nosed -- poor little guy. But, he's been in pretty good spirits. He ate fairly well and played hard. So, I'm hoping he gets over this quickly.

Unfortunately, I had to cancel his playgroup for Thursday--he's VERY disappointed . . . "My friends not come over," he says. I promised Nick we'd invite them over again as soon as he was healthy.

Family Celebration

My birthday fun ended this weekend with a family dinner out at Olive Garden followed by cake and festivities at John's parent's house. I received many special gifts, which Nicholas had to make sure that I knew how to open properly.

And, I was surprised with an angel food cake -- yum, my favorite!

Not only that . . . but, apparently
this was only my
2nd birthday!

I feel so young.
